Collection & Release
SAFE. SECURE. AUTHORISED.
At GLD Commercial Auctions Ltd, we have a clear and secure process for the collection and release of all vehicles and assets.
This policy protects our sellers, buyers and GLD by ensuring that items are only released to the authorised buyer once full payment has been received and cleared.
By registering to bid or selling with us, you agree to the terms of this Collection & Release Policy.
1. Purpose
This Collection & Release Policy explains how assets purchased through GLD Commercial Auctions (“GLD”, “we”, “our” or “us”) are released to successful buyers.
Our aim is to ensure every collection or delivery is completed safely, securely and efficiently.
2. Collection Authorisation
Assets must not be collected until GLD has confirmed that:
- Full payment has been received in cleared funds.
- Any required identity verification checks have been completed.
- Collection has been authorised by GLD.
Neither the seller nor the buyer should arrange collection without prior authorisation from GLD.
3. Collection Times
Collection must take place within the timeframe stated on the auction listing or as otherwise agreed with GLD and the seller.
If additional time is required, buyers should contact GLD as soon as possible.
4. Buyer Responsibilities
The buyer is responsible for:
- Arranging suitable transport where collecting themselves.
- Ensuring any vehicle used for collection is suitable and road legal.
- Providing any lifting equipment or specialist loading equipment required.
- Complying with all health and safety requirements at the collection site.
- Obtaining any permits or licences required for transport.
5. Proof of Identity
GLD may request:
- Photographic identification.
- Proof of purchase.
- Collection reference.
- Written authority where a third party is collecting on behalf of the buyer.
Failure to provide satisfactory identification may delay or prevent the release of the asset.
6. Third-Party Collections
Where a buyer appoints another person or transport company to collect an asset, the buyer remains fully responsible for:
- The collection arrangements.
- The transport provider they appoint.
- Any loss or damage occurring after collection.
- Ensuring the third party has authority to collect.
GLD may request written confirmation authorising the third party to collect on the buyer’s behalf.
7. Delivery Service
For buyers who require assistance, GLD Commercial Auctions can arrange delivery through trusted and reputable third-party transport providers.
Our team will obtain a delivery quotation and, where accepted by the buyer, coordinate collection and delivery on the buyer’s behalf.
Delivery charges will be confirmed before transport is arranged and must be agreed by the buyer.
Whilst GLD only works with trusted transport companies wherever possible, all transport services are provided by independent third-party contractors. GLD is not responsible for delays, damage, loss or additional costs arising during transportation that are outside our reasonable control.
Buyers are encouraged to inspect the asset upon delivery and notify the transport provider immediately of any visible transit damage.
8. Risk
Risk in the asset passes to the buyer upon collection or, where GLD has arranged delivery, in accordance with the agreed delivery arrangements and the applicable Buyer Terms & Conditions.
Buyers are responsible for ensuring appropriate insurance cover is in place from the point that risk passes.
9. Delayed Collection or Delivery
If an asset is not collected within the agreed timeframe, or delivery cannot be completed due to the buyer’s actions or failure to cooperate, GLD may:
- Contact the buyer to arrange an alternative date.
- Apply reasonable storage or administration charges where applicable.
- Cancel the sale where permitted under the Buyer Terms & Conditions.
10. Health & Safety
Anyone attending a collection site must:
- Follow all site rules.
- Wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) where required.
- Comply with instructions provided by site staff.
- Take reasonable care for their own safety and the safety of others.
GLD accepts no responsibility for accidents arising from a failure to follow site instructions or applicable health and safety requirements.
